Glen Lewis

Glen Lewis has been called "...an outstanding choreographer" who creates universes and tells stories motivated by the human experience and culture. Lewis's unique take on contemporary dance has gained national and international recognition. Lewis cultivated a space where artists could collaborate and use their stories and artistry in a growing and nurturing atmosphere. Using ballet base innovative movements to communicate their stories, Lewis established Iswel Dance Theater (IDT), where he is the founding artistic director. Lewis, a Virginia native, received his BFA in dance and choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University and extended his training at the Richmond Ballet, Alvin Ailey Dance Center, and the Nederlands Dance Theater. Lewis performed for eight seasons as a professional dancer with Island Moving company in Newport, RI. He grew his teaching endeavors by reaching dance academies, universities, and public schools along the east coast. Lewis is an established choreographer and teacher in central Virginia. He continues to share his visions and stories with audiences worldwide.
