Camille Weanquoi

Camille Weanquoi is a freelance dancer, teacher, choreographer, and mentor from the Bronx, NY. She holds an MFA in Choreography from Wilson College, a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Winston Salem State University. Camille received most of her training from the Harlem School of the Arts, where she was a scholarship recipient of the HSA college preparatory/pre-professional dance program. She has been privileged to study under many other influential teaching artists. She has been afforded the opportunity to perform the works of Urban Bush Women, Na Ni Chin, and Rod Rogers Dance Company. Camille’s commitment to community and the growth and preservation of dance in our world has expanded her artistry and community offerings. With that, she is the owner and visionary director of Camille W. Dance, a freelance dance educational and consulting company that provides arts integration strategies to K-12 educators and quality dance training for studio and community programs. It also manages Camille W. Dance & Co., the professional pick-up performance company specializing in traditional and contemporary movements, rhythms, and storytelling of the African diaspora experience. She is also the founder and Executive Director of Baltimore Black Dance Collective and co-founder and co-director of the Baltimore Black Choreographers Festival. She is training as a. Dunham Technique Teacher Certification candidate. With her background in and love for West African and Contemporary African dance forms, she currently creates, performs, and teaches African diasporic dances and other dance styles throughout the Baltimore/D.C. area and beyond.
